He was predeceased by: his parents, John Coughlin and Frances Sances Coughlin; and his brothers, Steve, Kevin and Paul Coughlin.

He is survived by: his wife Helen "Dilly" Coughlin; his son Robert "Bo" William Coughlin, Jr. (Heather); his grandchildren, Brady of Belleair, FL, Paris of Belleair, FL, Ailish of Belleair, FL, Bean of Belleair, FL and Cam of Belleair, FL; his daughter Beth Dutka (Jimmy) of Smyrna, GA; and his brothers, Jack Coughlin and Dan Coughlin.
