He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil LeRoy and Julia Mae Shealy Adams. He is survived by: his wife Geraldine B. Adams; his daughters, Anna Adams Hirth (Chris) of Chapel Hill, NC and Amy Adams Moore (Kim) of Greenville, SC; and his grandchildren, Blake Hirth and Addison Moore.

He later worked as a development officer for the School of Architecture, was the Executive Director of the Clemson Advancement Foundation for Design & Building, and he was a Life Donor to IPTAY.
