He was predeceased by: his parents, Rester Stephens and Emma Stephens; his son Jacob Calhoun Stephens; and his siblings, Elizabeth Owens, R. L. Stephens and John Stephens.
He is survived by: his wife Janeen Kidd Stephens; his children, Emma Janeen Stephens, Joseph, Alexander and Laurel Anne Stephens Shaler; his child-in-law Lt. Nicholas Shaler; his grandchildren, Anna Jean and Calhoun; his daughters-in-law, Sarah Mae Stephens (Behrouz Kianian) and Mary Ellen Stephens (Christopher Dombrowski); his sisters, Jane Owens and Anita Moore; and his sister-in-law Frances Stephens. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
