He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Townsend and Laura Johnson Townsend; and his brother Carl Townsend. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Townsend; his daughters, Jennifer Renegar (Bubba) of Ruby, SC and Jody Townsend Soulder (William) of Easley, SC; his grandchildren, Tiffany Townsend, Richard Townsend II, Amy Morris, Dylan Renegar, Amy Gribay (Tony) and Royce Renegar; his great grandchildren, Abigale, Ryder, Mason, Elijah, Nathaniel, Dani, Ari, Mael, Haile and Hadley; and his brothers, Ralph Townsend and Bill Townsend. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
