He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Jefferson and Catherine Lucas Gardner; his sister Cappie Baskin; and his brothers-in-law, Emsley Baskin and Gerald Stover.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Gardner; his children, Cathy Phillips (Mark) of Ruby, SC, Michelle Raynor (Mitchell) of Ruby, SC, Richard Gardner, Jr. (Tammy) of Lancaster, SC and Tricia Parnell (Wendell) of Hartsville, SC; his grandchildren, Kyle Phillips (Katherine), Grace Steven (Jayson), Anna Marie Raynor, Meghan Raynor, Jackson Raynor, James Gardner and Emily Gardner; and his sister Linda Stover of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
