He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladd Gainey, Sr. and Mary Ellen Gainey Weatherford; his wife Ann Crowley Gainey; his daughter Dawn Marie Gainey; his siblings, Johnny Lee Gainey, Wayne Gainey, Kay Derryberry, Mary Louise Gainey and Mary Lee Gainey; and his granddaughter Anna Grace.
He is survived by: his daughters, Melinda Crawley of Chesterfield, SC and Angie Thurman (Kevin) of Chesterfield, SC; his grandchildren, Brittany Crawley, John Michael Crawley, Mary-Kaitlin Thurman and Leah Thurman; and his sisters, Annie Harrison of Wedgefield, SC, Irene Williams of Patrick, SC and Frances Rivers of Hartsville, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
