He is survived by: his parent Nita Whitaker Hurst; his daughter Deborah H. Blackwell of Easley, SC; his grandchildren, Tim Pope of Cheraw, SC, Michelle Pope of Cary, NC and Nicole Lesley (Paul) of Easley, SC; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Harper, Camden, Joshua, Corbin, Haven, Lyric, Timothy and Chase; his sister Reba Hodge of Kannapolis, NC; his son-in-law Larry Paul of Wadesboro, NC; and his close friend Geneva Covington.
