It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laverne Eugene Watson in Chester, South Carolina, born in Bishopville, South Carolina, who passed away on November 7, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Watson and Bertha Stokes Watson; his wife Barbara Collins Varnadore Watson; and his sisters, Linda McCoy and Everleen Medlin.
He is survived by: his children, Tommy Varnadore (Diane) of Rock Hill, SC, John Watson of Lugoff, SC, Jamie Watson of Camden, SC, Janet Tate of Great Falls, SC, Debbie Robinson (Johnny) of Winnsboro, SC, Anita Watson of Lexington, SC and Kathy Tapia (Lorenzo) of Newberry, SC; and his sister Annette Nichols (Carol) of Bishopville, SC. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
