He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Roberts, Jr. and Tillie McClintock Roberts. He is survived by: his sister Jan Roberts Hammond (Edward) of Columbia; his nephews, Clint Hammond (Rachel) and John Hammond of Columbia; his niece Jenny Hammond Gantt (Michael); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Gibbs Hammond, Jake Hammond, Palmer Gantt, Will Gantt, Bess Hammond and Lucy Hammond.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials made in Johnny's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting woundedwarriorproject.org.
