He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan F. Varela and Guadalupe G. Ortega Varela. He is survived by: his wife Janice Marie Sindelar Varela; and his children, Ralph J. Varela (Lisette) of Round Rock, Denise M White of Scottsdale and Lynda R. Mellor (Brett) of Chesnee, SC. He is also survived by 6 sisters, six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
