He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" M. Bishop and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzy" Bishop; and his siblings, Melvin H. Bishop, J. Oliver Bishop and Shirley Cantrell.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Bishop; his brother Billy Bishop; his nieces and nephews, W. Caroll Bishop, Melvin D. Bishop and Dale J. Bishop; his daughter Christine B. Horton; and his stepchildren, Wendy Burrell, Tina Stacey and Daniel Johnson. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
