He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Arthur Edwards and Mable Josephine Harmon Edwards; his grandparents, Isom Calvin Edwards, Nancy Laveina Edwards Edwards, Noah Wingo Harmon and Tressa Prescova Ross Harmon; his sisters, Barbara Tedder of Kentucky, Rosette "Sissy" Whitely of Beckley and Betty Lou Luckado of Virginia; his wife Twila Sheets Edwards; his children, Tina Edwards Coleman (Jay) of Gaffney, Drema Edwards McNeal (Billy) of Beckley, Vickie Edwards Shrewsberry (Butch) of Ghent, Sharon Edwards Burke (Jim) of Chesnee and Donzie Edwards, Jr. (Kelly) of Greer; and his siblings, Norma Ray Edwards Linsky of MacArthur and Lloyd Edwards of Florida. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
