It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Steen Chavis (Cheraw, South Carolina), who passed away on August 21, 2022, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hope Steen and Minnie Roscoe Steen; and her husband George Wilson Chavis. She is survived by: her children, Jimmy Chavis (Neva) of Orangeburg, SC and Joyce McQuage (James, Sr.) of Bennettsville, SC; and her sister Frances Haithcock. She is also survived by many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
