He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Frederick Reid Sr. and Aliene Barrington Reid; and his wife Joann Webb Reid. He is survived by: his daughters, Penny Ann Reid and Gina Reid Merriman; his grandson Joseph F. Reid IV; his sister Josephine Reid Baker; his son Jody Reid (Carla) of Cheraw, SC; his grandson Jed Reid (Choles) of Cheraw, SC; his niece Renie Baker Seel; and also Kimberly Curtis.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
