He is survived by: his wife Janice D. Hurst; his son James Chappell Hurst, III (Alisa); his grandson James Chappell Hurst, IV; his stepson Richard Stroupe (Tina) of Leesburg, VA; and his stepgrandchildren, Trey Stroupe, Audrey Stroupe and Olivia Stroupe.
