He is survived by: his mother Mary Cuthbert Carnes Mathewes; his friend Terrie Mae Clarke; his children, Thomas Louis Mathewes II (Haley) and Anna Elizabeth Mathewes of Charleston, SC; his siblings, Cathy M. Harter (Rusty) of Greenville, SC and Father Gregory "Gary" Mathewes-Green (Frederica) of Johnson City, TN; and his grandchildren, Mary Virginia "Gigi" Mathewes and Harris Harrington Mathewes.
