She was predeceased by: her husband John Preston Brooks, Sr.; her parents, Soloman Lee Guerry and Mary Julia Carter Guerry; and her sister Annette G. MacEwen. She is survived by: her children, Lisa Vellenoweth and John Brooks, Jr.; her siblings, Dorothy Infinger, Betty Lou Gresham and Jack Guerry (Wilma); her granddaughter Kayla Courtenay (Thomas); her great grandchildren, Hailey Wilson, Madison Courtenay and McKinley Courtenay; her close friend Don Helmbold; and her son-in-law Bill Vellenoweth. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel (3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, Charleston, SC 29414). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, March 26th 2025 at the Live Oak Memorial Gardens (3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414).
