He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harriette Kirkland, and Marvin M. Kirkland, Sr.; his wife Joyce Hartnett Kirkland; his children, Tripp Kirkland (Hadley), Tradd Kirkland (Amanda), Michael Cheatham (Alecia) and Abbey Smith (Christian); and his grandchildren, Mary Seaton Kirkland, Rhodes Kirkland, Louise Kirkland and Leo Cheatham.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and at 11:00 AM at the St. Philip's Church (142 Church St, Charleston, SC 29401). A burial was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at the Live Oak Memorial Gardens (3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414).
