He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Tobias Richter, Sr. and Ernestine Jones Richter; his brother William Ripon Richter; and his sister-in-law Susan Barley Richter. He is survived by: his children, Michael Cullen Richter, James Louis, Sr. and Audrey Elliott Richter.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home (1620 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407). A vigil service was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Nativity Catholic Church (1061 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC 29412). A committal service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens (1308 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or to Wounded Warriors.
