He was predeceased by: his parents, John Timothy Byrnes and Mary Elizabeth Dwan Byrnes; and his siblings, Justina O'Hayer Maxey, Mary O'Hayer Handiboe, Julia Byrnes Lingenfelser, Ann Byrnes White and Daniel O'Hayer.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Mikowski Byrnes; his children, John T. Byrnes III, Mary Ann Byrnes, Mary Elizabeth Byrnes Trenaman and Patricia Byrnes Blanchard; his son-in-law Regan I. Blanchard; his grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Trenaman, Robert Patrick Trenaman, Patricia Elizabeth Blanchard and John Regan Blanchard; his great grandchild John Barton Byrnes Davidson of Charleston; and his sister-in-law Lurline Rossi. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
