He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Murray and Verdie Lee Sweat Murray; and his brother Lester Murray. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Lanier Murray; his daughters, Sandy Yarborough (Dean) and Rhonda Johnson (Preston); his grandchildren, Lindsay Rice (Madison), Dr. Leigh O'Neal (Michael), Preston Johnson, Jr. and Alexa Johnson; his great grandchildren, Bowen and Ellis Rice; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Murray, Peggy Peek, Joyce Lanier and Stewart Graham. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church; where he was a founding member or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
