Joyce Pound Backman Obituary
We are sad to announce that on December 18, 2024, at the age of 91, Joyce Pound Backman (Cayce, South Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Harrison and Maude Mack Pound; her husband Ray Backman; her daughter Susan Backman Frazier (Russell Frazier); her daughter-in-law Leeverne Pound; her siblings, Hazel Pound Boone, Althea Pound Recknagel (Ella), Dorothy Pound Sharpe, Drexel Daniel Pound, Thomas Harrison Pound, Jr. (Buddy) and Ehrlich Jake Pound; her granddaughter Rhonda Pound Kelly; her grandson-in-law Justin Cotterman; and her great grandchildren, Olivia Raye Cotterman and Baby Dempsey.
She is survived by: her sister Hilda Pound Taylor of West Columbia; her children, Thomas Ray Backman (Susan Pruett Backman), Faye Backman Amick (Phil Amick) and Ronnie Pound; and her grandchildren, Alisha Brianna Dempsey (Jordan Dempsey), Dillon Ray Backman and Brycen James Amick.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Trinity Baptist Church (2003 Charleston Hwy, Cayce, SC 29033). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 at the Southland Memorial Gardens (700 W Dunbar Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church in Joyce's honor.
