Deanna Schmit Mika Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Deanna Schmit Mika of Cayce, South Carolina, born in Aurora, Illinois, who passed away on April 9, 2024 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Schmit and Lorriane Lenz Schmit; her sister Jean Fish; and her grandson-in-law Kip Ross. She is survived by: her husband Mike Mika; her children, Rick Barkes (Beth) of Lexington, Illinois, Tammy Moeller (Jeff) of Fort Worth, Texas and Kim Gore (Michael) of West Columbia; her sister Joan Cox (Tom) of Aurora, Illinois; her grandchildren, Ken Moran (Celeste), Laura Barkes-Nielsen (Adam), Michael Barkes (Amanda), Jessica Ross, Nathan Moeller, Nick Barkes, Hannah Gore and Matt Barkes; and her nephew Rusty Cox. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities.
