He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude Pack Mathis and Furman Mathis; and his siblings, Gerald Dean Mathis, Charles Mathis, William Mathis and Dorothy Walker.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Honeycutt Mathis; his daughters, Anna Tucker of Inman and Cynthia Large of Wellford; and his granddaughters, Jessica Pitts (Adam) and Amanda Raines. He is also survived by six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
