He was predeceased by: his parents, Cicero Burns and Mamie Barnwell Burns; his wife Mary Jane Haynes Burns; and his brothers, Clyde, Howard and Donald Ray Burns.
He is survived by: his children, Tony Burns of Mars Hill and Julie Burns Horne (Wayne) of Green Creek; his grandchildren, Meghan Horne Mauldin (John) of Green Creek and Tyler Horne (Jessie) of Green Creek; his great grandchildren, Clayton and Ladson Mauldin; and his friend Earl Morris of Inman.
