He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clyde and Edith Mae Clements David; his daughter Cheryl Dennis (Patrick Michael); his son-in-law Jack Knight; his grandchildren, Wendy Knight, Beth Dennis, Jamie Watts and Tyler David; and his siblings, Robert E. "Jack" David, Franklin David, Clyde David and Sylvia Nunnery.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Floyd David; his children, Kathrine Watts (Grady) of West Columbia, Mary Barrs (James) of West Columbia, Cindy Knight of Elgin, Richard David (Renee) of Winnsboro, Joe David Jr. (Candy) of Pelion and Larry David (Kat) of Gaston; and his brother Johnny David. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren.
