He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Edward and Edith Mae Harrell Young; and his siblings, John Young, George Young, L. J. Young, J. E. Young, Clarence Edward Young, Renetta Hutchinson, Elma Lee Hummell, Bessie Mae Jones and Lucille Medlin.

He is survived by: his wife Janie Mae Crowley Young; his daughter Sheila Foster (Lee) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Madison Foster Thomason, Grace Foster Hoyt and Rhynne Young Owens; and his daughter-in-law Luanne Young. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hermitage Baptist Church Family Life Center.
