He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sidney and Ethel Van Moore Ellis; his son Charles "Chuck" Ellis, Jr.; and his siblings, Grace McNeely, Willie Sharpe, Merlene Ellis, Mary Langley, Ruth Merrell, Ted, Zemp, Elmer "Boge" and Kendall Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Alicia Robinson Ellis; his daughters, Marsha Cooley, Gail Dion (Al) and Robin Rabon (VC "Babo"); and his sister Eloise Hinson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Wateree Baptist Church Cemetery Committee, 2024 Haile Street, Camden.
