He was predeceased by: his parents, Robbie Cox Goforth and William Andrew Battles; and his sister Barbara Carpenter. He is survived by: his children, Janett Schafer (Scott) of Camden, Naomi Battles of Attala, AL, Christy Borgersrode (Rudy) of Rainbow City, AL and David Battles (Melissa) of Woodbridge, VA; and his sister Janet Davenport (Tommy) of Muscle Shoals, AL. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
