He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret M. Bray; his parents, Alva James Bray, Sr. and Regina Fay Hoover; and his sisters, Alma Bray, Etta Ruth Buchanan and Christine Rasberry.

He is survived by: his sons, Alva James Bray III (Pamela) of Williamston, S. C. and Timothy Bray (Kimberly) of Lugoff; his sisters, Betty Glass of Salisbury and Norma Bray of Camden; and his grandchildren, Andrew Bray, Emily Bray, Daulton Bray, Zachary Bray and Landon Bray.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Foundation.
