She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Hamilton Thornton and Gladys Pearl Coker Thornton; and her siblings, Roy Thornton, Jr., Dorothy Genell Rogers Mill and Addie Mae Thornton Elliott.

She is survived by: her children, Cheryl Ann DeMarsico-Smith (Stephen) and Lauryl Lee Besase (Greg).
