He is survived by: his parents, Michelle Johnson Atwell and David Ray Atwell; his daughters, Brantley Atwell and Emelia Atwell; and his grandmothers, Jean Atwell and Pat Haynie (Raymond Sloan). He is also survived by cousins and a few lifelong friends who were more like siblings.
