He is survived by: his parents, Coatis L. Benefield and Flonnie Garrett Benefield; his wife Gwen Cummings Benefield; his children, Jennifer Benefield (Danny) of Loudon, TN, Ami Bowman of Cave Spring, GA, Sissy Richardson (Eddie) of Awendaw, Nicholas Dooley (Racheal) of Athens, GA, Steven Smith of Rome, GA, Chris Knight of Moncks Corner and Lonnie Knight (Lyndsay) of Mt. Pleasant; and his siblings, Karen Reisner (Larry) of Adairsville, GA, Wanda Smith (Mike) of Rome, GA and Avery Benefield (Melanie) of Villa Rica, GA. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
