He was predeceased by: his parents, Carey L. Gaskins, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Smith Gaskins; and his siblings, Patricia Mitchum, Shirley Thompson, Henry Gaskins and George Allen Gaskins.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Gibby Gaskins; his children, Melissa Reis (Matheus) of Goose Creek, Stacey Matias-Lopez, Peggy Contreras of Walterboro, Carey Gaskins, III (Sarah) of Palatka, FL. and Norman Benefield, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; and his siblings, Linda Jackson of Moncks Corner, Barbara White of Awendaw, Brenda Mitchum of McClellanville, Barney Gaskins of Moncks Corner, John Gaskins of McClellanville and James Brooks of Charleston. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
