He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Moore and Willie Mae Parker Moore; his wife Elsie Jones Moore of Virginia; his siblings, John H. Moore, Jr., William H. Moore, Thomas L. Moore, Dr. Perry Moore, Agnes E. Moore and Emily Marie Moore; and his grandsons, Robert Perry and Brandon Taylor Moore.

He is survived by: his children, John K. Moore, William P. "Perry" Moore (Melody), Rev. Richard Wayne Moore (Linda), Dr. Mary T. Moore Bivins (Drake), Robert Michael Moore and Lisa Moore Bowling (Ron); his grandchildren, Megan McGeorge (Josh), Second Lieutenant Tucker Langston, Hunter Moore, Hayden Moore, Michelle Douglass (Sam), Jacklyn Moore and Ethan Bivins; his great grandchildren, Eliza Jane Langston, John Henry Langston and David Brien McGeorge; his sister Martha Moore Jackson; and his brother-in-law Robert Neff Jones (Becky).
