He was predeceased by: his parent Cauthen Doulas Broom; his wife Wanda Hinson Broom; and his sister Dorothy Faye Broom. He is survived by: his children, Milton Douglas "Dusty" Broom, Jr. (Veda Lynn), Dorothy Faye Beggs (David), Wanda Renee Carpin, Cyndi Burrell (Bill) and Sandra Dee Christmus (John); his grandchildren, Nichole, Rachel, Dustin, Jake, Dakota, Judson, Jordan, Dillon, Dalton, Caleb, Haden, Haleigh, John Luke and Cullen; his great grandchildren, Arabella, Grayson, Lucy, Coral, Hunter, Jack, Abigail and Mia; and his sister June Blume.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blythewood Baptist Church, 101 Bass Road, Blythewood, SC.
