He was predeceased by: his parents, James Howard and Hattie Bailey Beckham; his wife Sylvia Hinson Beckham; and his sisters, JoAnn Tyler (Guy) and Sara Allen (Milton).

He is survived by: his son John Gavin Beckham (Tracy); his grandchildren, Kayla Beckham Johnstone (Tyler) and Gavin Hillman Beckham; his great grandchild Jamie River Johnstone; and his brother Maurice Beckham (Martha).
