He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Hay and Bertha Hay; his wives, Sara Mathis Hay and Althea Sikes Hay; his children, Danny Hay, David Wayne Hay, Martha Ednie and Kenneth Hay; and his siblings, Henry and Betty.

He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Jenifer Whittington (Floyd) of Savannah, GA and Kathy Zaraza (Keith) of Easton, PA; his daughters-in-law, Anita Hay and Natalie Hay of Ridgeland, SC; and his grandchildren, Amanda Dundee (David), David Hay (Menthey), Daniel Hay, Shayde Ednie, Mallory Ednie, Mahailey Ednie, Ashton Hay, Landon Hay (Kaitlyn), Ashley Grosch (Mark), Reily Piotrowski and Abby Piotrowski. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
