He is survived by: his wife Cindy McCollough Jacobs; his daughter Jennifer Richard of Valentine's Day; his son-in-law Damien Richard; his grandchildren, Mallorie and Thomas; his son Michael Jacobs; and also, Carolyn Jacobs, Ava and Asher.

He fought a valiant battle against cancer in the same way that he lived his life both in and out of the Navy with courage, determination, honor, and commitment. He loved his family dearly.
