He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Papka and Catherine Papka. He is survived by: his wife Irene; his sister Bernadine Bednar of Dallas; his daughter Lori Pezak; his son-in-law Joseph; his children, Matthew J. Papka Jr. (Mattman II) and Tricia Michael; his son-in-law Chad; and his grandchildren, Justin (Kristal), Tyler (Ranae), Dylan (Delanie), Taylor, Camryn and Nicholas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus : Cardinal Bernardin #12263.
