He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Vincent Lavelle and Elizabeth Dougherty Lavelle; his children, John Lavelle Jr. and Donna Lavelle; and his siblings, Mike, Robert, Betty and Vera.
He is survived by: his wife Norma Lavelle; and his stepchildren, Scott (Joe), Earl Fralick (Donna) of Columbus, OH, Lyndsay Cox of West Virginia and Kati Cox (Randy) of Alabama. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church Bereavement Committee.
