He was predeceased by: his parents, John Matta and Pearl Matta; and his parents-in-law, John and Milmae Hampson. He is survived by: his spouse Ellanat Hampson; his children, Greg Matta (Jennifer) of Kennesaw, GA, Thad Matta (Barbara) of Indianapolis, IN and Karah Viola (Anthony) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, Sarah Matta of Acworth, GA, Michael Matta of Fort Myers, FL, Ali, Emily Matta of Indianapolis, IN, Samuel and Ellie Viola of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his great grandchild Tyson Matta of Acworth, GA; and his brother Rich Matta of Las Vegas, NV.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crescent Hospice, 10 Buckingham Plantation Drive, Suite A, Bluffton, SC 29910.
