He is survived by: his children, Jeryl Shirley Carson of Elizabeth City, NC, David Ludwig Shirley (Kathleen) of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Gail Shirley Hocking (Charles) of Hampstead, NC; his granddaughter Jennifer Shirley Boykin of Charlotte, NC; his children, Courtney Lynne Carson of Greenville, NC, Amanda Shirley Gammons (Carlton) of Tampa, FL and Allison DeMolli Shirley of Jacksonville Beach, FL; his great grandchildren, Golden and Leo Gammons of Tampa, FL; and his sister Janet Shirley Hill of Winchester, MA.
