He was predeceased by: his parents, Rodgers Dean and Nella Smith Dean; and his brothers, William Dean and Harold Dean. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Pinckney Dean; his sons, Charles E. Dean Jr. (Anne) and Paul Rodgers Dean (Lisa); his sisters, Nell Dean Simmons and Shelby Dean Land; and his grandchildren, Gus (Briar), Cameron and Wyatt.
