He was predeceased by: his parents, Maury G. Shelton and Florence Hines Shelton; his wife Sara Ann Shelton; his son Ranny Garland Shelton; his brothers, David Shelton and Gerald Shelton; and his daughter-in-law Terri Shelton.
He is survived by: his children, Riley Thurman Shelton, Jr. (Debbie) of Hartwell, GA, Steve Shelton (Lorraine) of Aiken, SC and Joy Avera (Mark) of North Charleston, SC; his daughter-in-law Debbie Shelton of Simpsonville, SC; his grandchildren, Heath Shelton (Elizabeth), Heather Shelton, Holly Clements (Brian), Scott Shelton, Laci Gault (Chris), Ashlee Lemon (Edward, Jr.), Luke Shelton, Parker Avera (Katie), Shelton Avera, Caroline Swift (Brooks), Emily Avera and Sarah Avera; his great grandchildren, Handley, Hollin, Max, Brody, Gavin, Riley, E. B., Lucy, Hendrix and Knox; his brothers, Gordon Shelton, Malcolm Shelton (Mary), Billy Shelton (Emma), Bobby Shelton and Larry Shelton (Frances); and his sisters-in-law, Madeline Shelton and Helen Shelton.
