Mary Elizabeth (Jones) Watkins Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Watkins, age 75, was born on August 24, 1947, in Hilda South Carolina to the late Willie James Jones and Oprah Lee Carter Washington.
She received her education in the Public Schools of Blackville, South Carolina. She continued her education at Denmark Technical College, Denmark, South Carolina. Being the determined, hardworking person that she was; most of her employment was in the manufacturing industry, and nursing home up until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, sewing, and collecting elephants "her favorite animal". Her family was very important to her. She was a woman of faith, kindness, and forgiveness.
Mary rested her life of servitude and started her new journey on Sunday, March 5, 2023. She was preceded in transitioning from this life by eight of her siblings. Mary was an amazing force of love and life, and she did so many wonderful things for people.
Her amazing spirit and loving heart will be cherished and greatly missed by all who were blessed to experience her.

Washington (Courtney) of Denmark, South Carolina; (4) sisters: Minister Rosa Whetstone of Denmark, South Carolina, Minister Eartha J. Rice (Phillip) of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Evangelist Willa Hammonds (Deacon Joe) of Grovetown, Georgia and Reverend Belle McMullen (Michael) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; (4) brothers: Bishop Curtis Thompson (Minister Alberta) of Denmark, South Carolina, James Jones, Sr. (Sheila) and Matthew Jones (Linda) both of Blackville, South Carolina and Artise Washington of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; (1) aunt: Esther McCreary (Arthur) of Jacksonville, Florida; (13) grandchildren; (3) great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
