It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mactell Lamar Simmons of Blackville, South Carolina, who passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Primus Simmons and Leola B Simmons; and his siblings, Ella Dell Bellinger, Lucy Phine Richards, O'Gannar Cheyenne Simmons and Phillip Simmons.
He is survived by: his children, Michele Simmons of Blackville, SC, Artesha Joyner (Remond) of Puyallup Washington, Veronica Sabb (Joe) of Williston, SC, Mactell Simmons Jr. of Augusta Ga and Tameric Simmons of California; his stepson Ricarldo Haynes; his brothers, Oliver Simmons (Patricia) of Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Norman Miley of Maryland and Junior Miley (Vern) of Barnwell, SC; his mother-in-law Gladys Haynes of Blackville, SC; his brothers-in-law, Willie Haynes (Linda) of Blackville, SC and Dwayne Haynes of Blackville, SC; and his grandchildren, Broolyn, Khaziyus, Ti'yanna, Darell, Tamara, Jikira, Zaria, Shamiyah, De'sia, King, Junior, Zakia and Bryson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
