He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hammond Sr. and Eunice Ray Hammond; his wife Ann Elizabeth Hammond; his children, Richard Hammond, Eddie Hammond, Jr., Loreen Brown (John), Georgia Jones (Edwin) and Ronnie Jackson (Lucia); and his siblings, Willow Hammond, Eartha Ferguson, Nell Johnson (Clay), Johnny Hammond, Leroy Hammond (Betty) and David Hammond.
