She was predeceased by: her husband Jim "Cornbread" Combs; her parents, Henry Dawson and Betty Muncy Dawson; her brother Dennis Dawson; and her grandparents, Bill, Callie Muncy, Frank and Mary Dawson.
She is survived by: her children, Melissa Walker (Chris) and Stacey Combs (Machella) of Blacksburg; her stepdaughter Charlotte Aker of Bluefield, WV; her grandchildren, Anthony Zamudio (Shayla), Brock Combs, Harley Combs and Savannah Miller; her great grandchild Saigelynn Zamudio; her sister Robin Whitaker; and her close friend Pat Walker.
