He is survived by: his significant other Teresa Hord Whaley; his children, Alesia Bass (Charles Bass) of Blacksburg, William Hord (Maria Hord) of Blacksburg and Julian Hord (Malissa Roth) of Blacksburg; and his siblings, Thomas Hord, Darl Hord, Barbara Woody, Rebecca Prater, Sue Costner, Rachel Green and Janice Otten. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
